A few words about your host:
I've been blessed with the company of cats for over thirty years, both living with and working with them. You've met some of them on other pages, and there's a few more are pictured here.
After moving to the Cowichan Valley with two of my cats in 2005, I fostered kittens for the BC SPCA as a volunteer before eventually taking a position as an Animal Care Assistant.
Currently I work as an Instructor at one of the first BC SPCA AnimalKind accredited Dog Training facilities, Cowichan Canine Behaviour & Training. I am a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner and also KPA certified in Shelter Training and Enrichment.
I'm a Professional member of VIATA, Vancouver Island Animal Training Association. and up to date with animal first aid: Dogsafe Canine First Aid levels I and II.
All of my professional experience with animals is founded on science-based positive reinforcement techniques, reflecting a respect for animals and their rights as individuals and allowing them choice and control whenever possible and never using force, intimidation or pain.
Through The Cowichan Cat Hotel I aim to not only take care of your cat's basic needs, food, water, a clean litter tray and so forth, but also to provide them with all that it takes for a cat to be happy. Being away from their home and loved ones is challenge enough for any cat, I aim to provide a place of comfort for their emotional needs and all round well-being.
